You are trapped on a planet and the only way you can escape is to solve a puzzle. This is the fourth project in the Udacity VR Developer course. The game tests the user's memory. In order to leave the planet they are trapped on, they must watch the sequence in which the balls light up and then repeat that sequence back. If they get it right, they leave the building and can try the game again (the pattern of the balls lighting up is random).
For this project I wanted to create an environment on my own rather than using the prefab provided, so I started to learn Blender in the month before this term started. The learning curve was steep, but I was determined to work through the challenge. Creating the scene took a bit of time because I was learning new software but I enjoyed it and the user testing.
The user testing turned out to be the surprising part. My testers concentrated on different things, which was good. One was experience focused (how it felt) and the other was environment focused (how it looked). My task was to strike a balance between experience and environment. In the end, both testers were satisfied with the results.
Sketches
I started out sketching and storyboarding before I began to work on the corridor modules in Blender. I also made the terrain in Unity.
