I actually designed the entire product line of speakers, remote control, and Mobile Application. The User Interface is what I am most proud of. It allows the user to to play the pre-configured sounds from the speaker's internal memory card, as well as music from an App. For this App I sat down with the client and worked out any concerns they had about the functionality. Before I became a Product Designer I was a Software Engineer, so I did the Software as well as UI charts. I aslo created all of the icons for the app. This client had already done their own Research and Analysis for their customer base to verify the product viability, but it was up to me to analyze the data and come up with a usable design.
I presented the client with wireframes first and fleshed out screens once functionality had been established.
The result is an app that plays sounds from an SD card or streams music through the speakers via Bluetooth. It is for outdoor use and there is a day and night mode display.
Prototyping
The screens were created in Sketch and handed off to the development team. I continued to oversee the development process and tested the app throughout all phases to completion. It is scheduled to be released in 2020 once the entire product line is ready to launch. I also designed the UI for the remote which is essentially the same as the Android/iOS app in terms of functionality.
